CHAMBERSBURG, PA (May 8, 2008) - At an event held today at the Chambersburg Area Chamber of Commerce the Ben Franklin Venture Investment Forum awarded $25,000 to River Raider Snorkel Systems for winning this year’s Big $25,000 IDEA Business Plan Contest hosted by the Shippensburg University Small Business Development Center.
River Raider, who along with five other finalists made presentations to a panel of judges on April 15, 2008 at Shippensburg University, took home the prize for their work in developing an aftermarket snorkel for Jeep Wranglers – an air intake system that allows the vehicle’s engine to be submerged underwater. According to River Raider no other company was designing aftermarket products for the 2007 Wrangler, and their goal was to be the first company to do so. In addition to snorkels they began developing other products, including front and rear bumpers, rocker guards and rock sliders.
“We are very excited about winning the competition,” stated Kenny Hauk of River Raider when notified that his company had won. “We plan on using the $25,000 to purchase welding and fabrication equipment for our new facility.”
